Q: What is the difference between products I can get over the counter and the products sold in your clinic?
A: When cosmetic companies release a product to the market, they lose control of how the product is used. Many consumers do not read or simply disregard the instructions on the package. This leaves the manufacturer open to product liability issues. In order to ensure that people do not hurt themselves with the products, the companies tend to heavily dilute the active ingredients so that there is no potential for harm even when the product is abused. The trade off is efficacy. Most over the counter products do not have enough active ingredients to do the job they claim to do. Even expensive products sold in department stores rarely make any significant difference in the skin.
Serious skin conditions need serious treatment. When used properly, high quality ingredients like Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin A (retinoids), Vitamin E and hyaluronic Acid, can actually change the chemistry and structure of your skin. When used under the supervision of medical personnel, these ingredients are very safe for use on even on sensitive skin. In fact, there is evidence that antioxidants like vitamin C can reverse the signs of aging and even prevent skin cancer.

Key Ingredients:
Vitamin A: Also known as retinoids, have been shown in studies to do everything from smoothing fine lines and fading dark spots to making pores look smaller. Results with high quality vitamin A are amazing, but when abused, retinoids can cause severe skin irritation. Strict instructions must be followed to get the best results.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It has been shown in clinical studies to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It stimulates production of new collagen and protects against sun damage. Unfortunately, vitamin C is very unstable in liquid form. The L-Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C has been found to be the most effective for anti-aging. The danger of using low quality vitamin C is that at the very least, it will be ineffective, and in some cases, low quality vitamin C can actually cause more harm to the skin. Dr. Mostafa Omar is known as "the father of L-Ascorbic Acid" because he was the first to stablize vitamin C in liquid form. Dr. Omar's Phyto-C line of products contain the purest form of vitamin C in it's liquid L-Ascorbic Acid form. We are very proud to carry the complete line of Phyto-C products.
Vitamin E: Also known as tocopherol, is a powerful antioxidant. It protects from sun damage, improves scars and discoloration, reduces water loss and has many other anti-aging benefits. Vitamin E works together with vitamin A by regulating vitamin A levels.
